Key Points for
Iowans, including no-party women, Republican women, and Independent men under 50 need to read, see, and hear that:
Chuck Grassley has been in elected office for 63 years and is out of touch with today’s Iowa. He has forgotten how to work for Iowans and doesn’t understand what they need:
- When Grassley was in his first term in office in 1960, the average prescription drug cost just over $3. But today Grassley is putting drug company profits first rather than fighting for lower costs for Iowans. He wrote the law banning Medicare from negotiating for lower drug prices. Once again in August of this year he voted to block capping insulin costs at $35 a month.
- When Grassley first ran for Congress in 1974, he declared that “our first priority is to get the wealthy to pay the fair share.” But more than 40 years later, he helped write a law that gave billions in tax giveaways to the large corporations that shipped Iowa jobs overseas, then voted against a tax cut for working families.
Since Roe v. Wade established the federal right to an abortion in 1973, Chuck Grassley has spent nearly 50 years working to overturn the decision.
- Grassley supports letting politicians ban abortion with no exceptions for rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is at stake.
No-party men also need to read, see, and hear that:
- When Grassley was in his first term in office in 1960, the U.S. economy was nearly 10 times the size of China’s. But Grassley voted to give China special trade privileges that have helped cost nearly 4 million American jobs, and today their economy is almost as large as the United States while Iowa has lost over half its farms.
